Brandon Todd, 19, is being held on charges of kidnapping
across state lines in the case of a 26-year-old woman whom he kept in his
bedroom for 2 weeks. The victim was traveling by bus from Florida to San Diego
when she met Todd; the accused asked if she’d like to share a hotel room, an
offer she accepted because she believed she needed some rest before meeting up
with her mom in California.
Todd at this point revealed that he was a member of a gang,
would get his friends to find her if she ran away, and brought her to his
grandparents’ house, where he held her captive for two weeks.
Todd called the FBI almost every day, often speaking to
Agent Barry Crouch, informing the agency that he was running a sex trafficking
operation but was developing feelings for his current victim and wanted to get
her out of it.
The FBI never took action during this period; according to
ABC News, “The FBI, after repeated calls, declined to comment on the case
beyond what was stated in the affidavit.” The victim escaped by faking an
asthma attack, after which she was brought to the hospital where she called her
boyfriend who then drove her away from Todd.
I strongly believe that this maybe suffering from mental problem; therefore, do you think Todd facing life in prison would give him the help he needs.
